M224: Intro to Linux in Splash Spring 2019 (Feb. 02, 2019)
What do laptops, the internet, cars, phones, and Raspberry Pis have in common? Many of each run on Linux, an operating system (similar to macOS and Windows). Linux is one of the most prominent operating systems in the technical world, and has been steadily increasing in popularity since its invention. So what is it? Why was it created? How does it work? Why is it so popular? In this course, we will briefly overview the history of Linux, the inner workings of some of its most critical components, and spend some time working in Linux!
